Job summary

Provo City is seeking a part-time Reference Librarian to assist patrons with research, reference interviews, and program support. The role includes creating bibliographies, aiding collection development, and coordinating with schools and libraries.

The incumbent will handle catalog systems, maintain public service, and participate in training. 24 hours weekly, with some evenings and weekends, in Provo City facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2 years librarian experience.
• Extensive verbal and auditory skills required for patron communication.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons in selecting, locating, and using materials and equipment.
• Conduct reference and Reader's Advisory interviews in person or by phone.
• Create bibliographies and booklists to aid researchers and readers.
• Resolve problems or refer to proper authority for resolution.
• Assist in collection development through review, selection, acquisition, and cataloging.
• Plan and execute library programs, activities, and promotional ideas.
• Maintain contact with staff, the public, schools, and other libraries.
• Attend conferences, seminars, and training sessions.
• Provide general patron assistance.
• Troubleshoot office machinery and automated peripherals.
• Perform other related duties as required.
