Job summary

Tamus is seeking an Assistant Reference Librarian (Part-Time) at Texas A&M University - Central Texas Library Services in Killeen. The role involves analyzing user needs, interpreting Library resources, and guiding students, faculty, and staff in accessing information.

Candidates must hold a Master’s in Library Science, have strong customer service and communication skills, and be able to work Sundays on campus. The position is temporary/casual with a $22 hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) or equivalent.
• Two years in an academic, public, or related library setting preferred.
• Professional library experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the use of library and archives resources, including catalogs and databases.
• Provides advanced customer service using virtual reference and chat.
• Conducts clientele interviews to recommend resources.
• Responds to escalated requests as a subject matter expert.
• Creates and edits departmental publications.
• Analyzes operations and determines problem resolutions.
• Staffing for the research help desk during evenings/weekends.
• Other duties may be assigned.
