Job summary

Collin College in Frisco, TX is seeking a Part-time Reference Associate to support students, faculty, staff and the public. The role involves providing quick reference answers, performing circulation tasks, and assisting with computing resources both online and on-site.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and library experience; evenings/weekends may be required. This is a security-sensitive, hourly-internship-like role at the Frisco Campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2 years library-related work experience or 18 credit hours toward MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Provide quick, correct, professional answers for basic to intermediate inquiries using online resources and the reference and general collections.
• Perform circulation duties: create patron accounts, issue cards, check materials in/out, manage fines, shelving, and courier processes.
• Assist with computing resources navigation (OPAC and Internet).
• Assist in record keeping/database management for the collection.
• Respond to public and staff reference inquiries; provide in-person, phone, email, and chat reference services.
• Conduct reference interviews and research using print/electronic resources to help locate materials.
• Instruct customers staff on library equipment, computers, databases, software, and Internet use.
• Identify collection needs and advise on purchases; assist with weed of the reference collection.
