Job summary

City of West Sacramento is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader to assist with a wide range of department activities across multiple sites, including parks and schools. The role supports program delivery, event coordination and outreach under the Parks & Recreation Department.

The position requires youth/public experience, flexibility to work varied hours, and possible CPR/First Aid certification prior to placement. It emphasizes independence, teamwork and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of seventeen at time of employment.
• At least 1 year experience working with youth and/or the public.
• May need CPR and First Aid certificates before placement.

Responsibilities

• Assists with organization, coordination and marketing of programs and events.
• Supervises and instructs less experienced recreation personnel.
• Maintains records and prepares reports as required.
• Conducts and guides activities such as arts and crafts, science, nature, drama, and sports.
• Promotes department rules and trains volunteers and staff in workshops.
