Job summary

The City of Carson is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant II to support community programs, events, and daily park operations. This entry-level role focuses on engaging youth, families, and seniors while promoting safe, welcoming spaces across City parks and facilities.

Under supervision, you will help lead activities, supervise events, assist with first aid, and coordinate with staff to ensure positive experiences and strong community connections in Carson.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
• Approximately one year of part-time leadership experience in recreational activities.
• Knowledge of sports, games and groups activities; first aid and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead free play and team activities for various age groups.
• Teach fundamentals of play and sportsmanship in recreational activities.
• Explain, demonstrate and assist in supervising new and original games.
• Assist in supervising special non‑athletic events and programs such as contests, dances, special activity days, meets and tournaments and special excursions.
• Assist in administering first aid.
• May be assigned duties as a sports official on urgency basis.
