Job summary

City of Carlsbad is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader to support youth and camp programs across city recreation facilities. You will direct participants, maintain records, and help deliver age-appropriate activities including field trips.

The role requires a valid CA driver’s license, CPR and first aid certification, and a flexible schedule including mornings and evenings. The city emphasizes a no-benefits policy for part-time staff and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Flexible schedule including mornings and evenings.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to evaluate emergencies and act decisively.
• Ability to communicate clearly and lift 25 lbs.
• May be required to use a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise program participants.
• Maintain records pertinent to programs.
• Implement age-appropriate activities and events (including field trips).
• Ensure health, welfare, and safety of participants.
• Collaborate with Senior Recreation Leaders for program success.
• Assist staff in organizing and cleaning facilities and equipment.
• Build relationships with parents and community center staff.
• Maintain a fun, positive attitude daily.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Attend monthly meetings and trainings.
• Supervise participants during field trips.
