Job summary

The City of Oakley is seeking a Recreation Leader to assist with youth, senior, and community programs under the supervision of the Recreation Manager. The role includes after school programs, field trips, summer camps, facility rentals, and other events.

Management may modify assignments and provide accommodations to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions. The position requires flexibility to work outdoors and weekends, with some evenings as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED helpful to perform duties.
• One year of recreation or related leadership experience desirable.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• CPR and First Aid certificates possessed or obtainable within six months.
• Must be 18+ with Live Scan/background check.

Responsibilities

• Oversees participants and volunteers in arts, crafts, sports, games, homework tutorials, and recreational activities.
• Accompanies participants on program outings.
• Performs general set-up, maintenance and custodial duties (e.g. cleaning, arranging tables/chairs).
• Answers questions from the public about City events, programs and services.
• Maintains a safe program environment and conducts safety checks; administers first aid as required.
• Enforces rules and communicates with parents about program discipline.
• Serves as a positive role model.
• Assists in inventory of program supplies and equipment.
• Handles cash transactions.
• Assists in planning and coordination of programs and activities.
• Completes required paperwork and reports.
• Provides courteous customer service.
