Job summary

City of Manchester is seeking a part-time Recreation Specialist to oversee and supervise recreational activities at an assigned facility. The role requires coordinating events, training staff, and maintaining safety and records across indoor and outdoor spaces.

The ideal candidate will have high school graduation with 3–5 years of supervisory experience in recreation, and possess strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. First Aid/CPR certifications are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from High School or GED; additional training in Leisure Arts, Parks and Recreation preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience supervising recreational activities or an equivalent combo of experience and training.
  • Ability to pass a background check; First Aid and CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee recreational activities for all ages at an assigned facility or park.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; manage behavior problems.
  • Maintain records including payroll, accident reports, and maintenance logs.
  • Organize group events and coordinate with community partners.
  • Ensure facilities are safe, clean, and operational; oversee equipment.
  • Communicate with parents and participants; respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Provide guidance to new staff and attend trainings as needed.
