Job summary

Lancaster County Government is seeking a PT Recreation Coordinator 1 to assist in supervising after-school, senior, and summer camp programs at the Recreation Center. You will plan daily activities, supervise staff, and keep accurate attendance and financial records while ensuring participant safety.

You will promote programs, liaise with the public, and help maintain supplies. A positive, inclusive environment and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of recreation programming or child-centered programs experience; or equivalent combination.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Background check and drug screening required.
• South Carolina driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff for after-school programs, senior programs, and summer day camps.
• Oversees daily care, supervision, and safety of children in youth programs.
• Plans, directs, and implements daily program activities, events and seasonal activities.
• Registers participants using recreation software.
• Reconciles funds and deposits daily.
• Maintains attendance, registration, payments, and timecards records.
• Ensures forms and documentation are complete.
• Communicates policies and expectations to participants and parents.
• Implements discipline policy and communicates with parents.
• Supports marketing and promotion for programs.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Assists children with homework and fosters a nurturing environment.
• Monitors behavior and enforces facility policies.
• Maintains bulletin boards and general communications to families.
• Processes reports such as attendance, incident, and registration documents.
• Operates standard office equipment.
• Interacts with families, volunteers, staff, and community groups.
• Performs additional duties as required.
