Job summary

Lancaster County Parks & Recreation seeks a Part-Time Program Activity Leader to support outdoor athletic rentals, youth sports leagues, and indoor athletic programs. You will provide on-site supervision, ensure facilities are safe and welcoming, and assist with event setup and breakdown.

Hours vary by season and event schedule; evening and weekend availability is required. The role emphasizes customer service, safety, and professional conduct with participants and spectators.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, staff, coaches, and participants.
• Previous experience in athletics, recreation, customer service, or facility operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site supervision for outdoor athletic facility rentals and youth sports activities.
• Assist with operation of indoor athletic leagues and programs.
• Record and report game scores accurately.
• Monitor games, practices, and facility rentals to ensure compliance with rules and policies.
• Maintain order and assist with conflict resolution involving participants, spectators, and volunteer coaches.
• Serve as a point of contact for participants and visitors during shifts.
• Assist with field and facility setup and breakdown.
• Move goals, benches, equipment, and other athletic materials as needed.
• Perform routine facility inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Empty trash and keep facilities clean during events and rentals.
• Enforce department policies and promote a positive environment for all participants.
• Complete incident reports and other documentation as required.
• Respond to injuries or emergencies and notify appropriate staff or emergency personnel.
