Job summary

Family Service League is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for the Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program in Huntington. The Practitioner will oversee psychiatric care, provide evaluations and medication management for adults with serious mental illness, and coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring medications, conducting health assessments, and collaborating with external providers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a Nurse Practitioner Program required.
• Current registration, certification, and license to practice as an RN and a Nurse Practitioner in New York State required. DEA credentials required.
• Minimum of 3 years of prior prescribing experience required.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; experience with an EMR preferred.
• Excellent time management, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prescribe, administer, and monitor medications, including injectable medications in a safe and effective manner.
• Provide psychiatric evaluations and diagnoses for adults.
• Conduct health assessments of adults with potential acute and/or chronic health problems.
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care by collaborating with external providers as needed.
• Collaborate with clients’ families and collateral support to provide counseling and education.
• Participate in team meetings and conferences to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to treatment.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation within the regulatory requirements.
• Identify quality improvement issues and document standards of care and practice.
• Maintain a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice.
• Participate in the evaluation of the cost effectiveness of services provided.
• All other duties as assigned.
