Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs within a designated Clubhouse, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education. Plan, develop, oversee implementation, and supervise programs and program staff.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  1. Prepare Youth for Success
  • Plan and oversee the administration of designated Clubhouse programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Establish Clubhouse program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
  • Encourage members to participate in various program areas and provide instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills.
  • Mentor youth as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs Youth Development Strategy.
  • Demonstrate leadership to ensure conduct, safety, and development of members.
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Establish and maintain Clubhouse program goals and settings that ensure the health and safety of members.
    • Ensure staff understand and communicate standards of the program, maintain safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit areas, and keep equipment in good condition.
    • Continuously evaluate programs to respond to member needs and cultural considerations.
    • Manage program and activity expenditures within the approved budget.
    • Assign and monitor work for volunteers and staff, providing feedback and training opportunities.
    • Oversee record keeping and reporting of activities, participation, achievements, and issues.
    • Ensure effective performance of all staff and volunteers.
  • Marketing and Public Relations
    • Increase program visibility through posting schedules, announcing upcoming events, and disseminating approved information.
    • Obtain approval from the CEO for media releases.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee special programs and events, or participate as needed.
    • Consult with parents regarding members and branch issues.
    • Handle funds accounting as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit/Branch Director.

    RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Internal: Daily contact with staff, members, and supervisor for information exchange, issue discussion, guidance, and counseling.
    • External: Contact with community groups, schools, parents, and others to resolve issues and promote the Club.

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • High School Diploma with relevant education and experience.
    • Knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission, policies, and procedures; principles of non-profit organizations.
    • Leadership skills including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions independently.
    • CPR and First Aid Certification within first 3 months of employment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Exposure to loud noises.
