Produce Clerk

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Handles food safely and maintains a clean work area. Reviews merchandise for freshness.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
2. Greets customers warmly, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
3. Answers department phone calls promptly and offers helpful service.
4. Reviews and processes daily orders.
5. Practices proper sanitation and keeps the work area clean.
6. Checks the freshness and appearance of food items.
7. Monitors temperatures of hot and cold units.
8. Anticipates product needs and replenishes stock as necessary.
9. Receives, checks in, and stores product, reviewing invoices if needed.
10. Cuts, trims, and wraps fruits and vegetables.
11. Maintains proper inventory control, including pricing, stocking, and ordering.
12. Handles food in accordance with health regulations.
13. Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to solve arithmetic problems involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Good visual acuity, including color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Capability to handle refrigerated and frozen items safely.
• Ability to participate in preparing salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
• Ability to operate slicers and fryers safely for producing sliced meats, cheeses, and fried foods.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
