Job description

Job Title: Part-Time Associate

This is a part-time position. The primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop.

Responsibilities include processing, packaging, and stocking produce products according to produce standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage. When assigned, perform duties of floral clerk.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Personal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training. Ability to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
2. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Language Skills: Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, vendors, and associates who speak only English.
4. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement.
5. Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
6. Certificates and Training: Completion of company training including new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
7. Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell regularly. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must regularly lift/move up to 60 pounds and reach from 6-72 inches. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color, and depth perception.
8. Work Environment: Constantly works in a cool environment (55-60°F), frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and cold. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Additional Information

• Compensation: Harris Teeter reasonably expects to pay between $17.80/hour and $20.10/hour, depending on experience and skills.
