Job summary

Atrius Health is seeking a Lab Associate for a part-time role in Cambridge, MA. You will collect blood and non-blood specimens, verify orders, and ensure proper handling and labeling of samples in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, with preferred phlebotomy training and CPR/BLS certifications. Experience with LIS/EMR systems and strong communication skills are a plus in this clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy technical training preferred.
• CPR and Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Knowledge of LIS/EMR systems desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens using venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks as site requires.
• Collects non-blood specimens (urine, sputum, throat swabs).
• Verify/test orders for accuracy and completeness before collection.
• Assemble and prepare equipment per test requirements.
• Verify patient identity and explain procedures to reduce anxiety.
• Label and store specimens after collection; document collection details.
• Process specimens and prepare them for testing; record daily volumes.
