This role requires phlebotomy certification (or CMA) and a high school diploma; EMR familiarity is a plus. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 1:30pm, with a 28-hour work week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification or CMA certification required.
• Experience in healthcare phlebotomy preferred; EMR familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collections per age-related standards and departmental procedures.
• Uses AIDET model and enhances patient safety to reduce errors.
• Receives and reviews physician orders; enters lab orders in accordance with policies.
• Communicates with patients and provides post-phlebotomy care.
• Processes specimens promptly: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, packaging for transport.
• Maintains refrigerator temperatures and QA records; reports issues to supervisor.
• Notifies Lab/Physician of problems with specimen procurement for optimal care.
• Maintains a safe work environment and adheres to biohazard waste procedures.
• Performs clerical duties including order entry and using EMR systems; manages supplies.
