Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen processing at client sites in New Lenox, IL and Merrillville, IN. The role requires excellent patient service, accurate order entry, and teamwork to support the lab.

Work hours include 10am–5pm in New Lenox and 9am–3pm in Merrillville. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, phlebotomy certification (or CMA certification) and experience with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification or CMA certification (or equivalent phlebotomy experience).

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collections per age-related standards.
• Demonstrates AIDET model and patient safety to minimize errors.
• Receives and reviews physician orders and enters lab orders accurately.
• Maintains safe work environment and biohazard waste procedures.
• Communicates issues with specimen procurement to Lab/Physician.
• Handles lab clerical duties including order entry and record retrieval.
