Job summary

AdventHealth invites applications for a part-time laboratory support role focused on phlebotomy, specimen handling, and basic lab processing. The position involves patient interaction, specimen collection, and adherence to safety and infection-control protocols.

The role requires high school completion and relevant lab training; experience with transfusion information systems and MS Office is a plus. On-site duties at Florida locations with day shift expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred for lab roles.
• Phlebotomy training/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
• May clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
• Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
• Follows safety policies including PPE use, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Demonstrates understanding of Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.
• Collects patient, physician, and test order information to create patient accounts, verifying identification, insurance, credentials, and requirements.
• May perform blood specimen collection (phlebotomy) and skin puncture for all ages.
• Performs support activities to facilitate department operations; may answer phones and handle clerical tasks.
• May perform point of care testing, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation and result reporting.
• Receives, processes, and transports patient specimens, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
