Job summary

The Cancer & Hematology Centers in Big Rapids, MI is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant with phlebotomy duties. You will perform venipunctures, identify and label specimens, and enter data into the laboratory information system while supporting physicians and nurses in patient care.

Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, a Medical Assistant degree is preferred, and at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Degree preferred.
• Two years related work experience.
• Medical terminology extremely helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks per policies.
• Identify patients and label/handle specimens accurately.
• Determine and draw proper collection tubes for tests.
• Monitor phlebotomy supplies and inform manager when replenishing.
• Enter new patients into LIS and order tests for existing patients.
• Maintain safe working environment and stocking levels.
• Assist medical technologist with tasks such as calls, billing, and coordinating patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
