Job summary

Mercy Springfield is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician I to join our Pharmacy team. You will work alongside pharmacists and healthcare professionals to help ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and timely medication services.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, patient safety, and growth in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will perform duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, complete EPIC training, and pursue CPhT certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the PTCB required within six months of hire.
• Active registration with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willingness to obtain registration by start date (including FBI background check).
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient and medication information into EPIC.
• Prepare medications for pharmacist review and dispensing.
• Retrieve, count, package, and label medications accurately.
• Assist with sterile compounding preparation and training as applicable.
• Fill medication orders and prescriptions in a timely manner.
• Receive, stock, and maintain medication inventory.
• Ensure medication security and proper storage.
• Deliver medications to patients and nursing units after pharmacist verification.
• Prepare medications for delivery or shipment.
• Process returned medications and credits when appropriate.
• Conduct patient follow-up calls as needed.
• Follow hazardous waste, safety, and quality assurance procedures.
• Monitor assigned areas for outdated medications.
• Maintain pharmacy equipment and cleanliness standards.
• Prioritize tasks based on patient and operational needs.
• Participate in department meetings, huddles, and training activities.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new coworkers.
