Job summary

Southpoint Surgery Center, an affiliate of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join its ambulatory surgery team. You will provide pre-operative nursing care, assist in intraoperative processes, and discharge patients per policy, with emphasis on patient safety and efficient care.

Responsibilities include chart reviews, medication administration, and collaboration with physicians and OR staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse License.
• Current American Heart Assn. BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, develops and implements total nursing care for the pre-operative patient.
• Records and reports symptoms, reactions, abnormalities and changes in patient condition to appropriate persons.
• Administers medications and treatments ordered by physician.
• Cares and discharges pre-operative patients per facility policies.
• Reviews pre-operative chart for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensures surgical consent is completed correctly and matches OR schedule.
• Ensures pre-operative work-up (labs, EKG, CXR) is in chart.
• Communicates pre-operative information to OR nurse and anesthesiologist.
• Obtains and labels patient belongings and assists with OR attire.
• Performs pre-operative sedation administration.
• Maintains privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintains supplies and cleanliness; reports equipment issues.
• Participates in orientation and ongoing facility in-services.
