Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a part-time Night Shift Health Unit Coordinator to support nursing staff and assist in delivering patient care according to care plans and hospital policies.

Under supervision of a registered nurse, you will perform routine care tasks, collect patient data, and provide clerical support to the unit. A high school diploma and HUC-related training or coursework are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a health unit coordinator course or coursework in medical terminology and data entry.
• Specialized education options include acute care nursing assistant, long term care nursing assistant, EMT, medical assistant, or clinical rotation during nursing program.
• Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months if education requirements are not met.
• Six months of clerical experience in healthcare with direct patient care.
• Computer keyboard skills and Windows applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient/resident care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance, prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance, etc.
• Collects, records, and reports various patient/resident data; reports changes in condition.
• Provides general clerical support to unit such as answering the phone, data entry, and assembling, maintaining, and distributing information.
