Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Health unit coordinator course or related coursework in medical terminology and data entry.
• Specialized education options include acute care nursing assistant, long term care nursing assistant, EMT, medical assistant, or clinical rotation in accredited nursing program.
• Prior nursing assistant experience of at least six months if above education not met.
• Six months of clerical experience in a healthcare setting and direct patient care experience.
• Computer keyboard skills and Windows-based data entry.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient/resident care such as call light response, ambulating, transferring, positioning, hygiene assistance.
• Collects, records, and reports patient/resident data; reports changes in condition.
• Provides general clerical support to unit including answering phones, data entry, and distributing information.
