Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Patient Care Tech to join our Post-Surgical unit. Working 6am–6:30pm with every other weekend, you will support RN staff with vital signs, daily living activities, and patient comfort in a 74-bed orthopedic/general surgery setting.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical experience, and American Heart Association BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff and assists with maintaining a clean, orderly patient environment.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multi-tasking to manage unit workflow and priorities with the RN and charge staff.
