Job summary

TCH Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking a part-time Patient Care Assistant to support the Registered Nurse and deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will assist with data collection, document vital signs, and collaborate with the RN and family to ensure a safe, cost-effective plan of care.

A CNA certification or nursing assistant program is required, along with at least one year of direct patient care experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of CNA program or certification.
• Currently enrolled in a BSN degree program with one clinical rotation completed at hire.
• One year of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and documentation of patient/family data.
• Obtain and document vital signs and notify supervisor of abnormalities.
• Provide high-quality patient care in collaboration with the RN and patient/family.
• Collaborate with multiple RNs to prioritize workload based on patient needs.
• Assist in identifying patient/family response to care.
• Provide input to the RN for development and modification of the care plan.
• Maintain accountability for self-development and contribute to team goals.
• Demonstrate professionalism and customer service skills.
• Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals.
• Undergo respiratory fit testing as required.
