Job summary

Blessing Health System in Quincy, IL seeks a Patient Registration Specialist to conduct professional patient interviews, collect demographic, financial and biographical information, and determine medical necessity for services.

You will verify insurance eligibility, collect point-of-service payments, and complete registration duties across Patient Access areas, delivering quality service in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or GED.
• Positive interpersonal relationship skills required.
• Complete Medical Terminology Course within 6 months of hire.
• Computer literacy including MS Word, MS Excel, and other office products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer services skills, ability to independently problem-solve, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Demonstrate ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
• Some College preferred.
• Medical Terminology preferred.
• One year of clerical and customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• This position conducts professional patient interviews obtaining demographic, financial, and biographical information.
• The Patient Registration Specialist is responsible for obtaining information to appropriately bill payers, verify patient insurance eligibility, confirm benefits eligibility, collect point of service payments.
• Register patients across various areas including Patient Access 11th, Emergency Department, Walk-In Clinic, etc.
• Must be flexible and willing to work in all Patient Access areas; deliver quality performance and service excellence.
