Job summary

University of San Diego is seeking a part-time Pastry Assistant to join Pavilion Dining. The role supports bakery production for campus dining, catering and events, under supervision of Pastry Chef and Lead Baker. This temporary, non-benefit position runs approx. 20 hours weekly with a pay range of $20.00–$22.00 per hour.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of related bakery experience; culinary school baking experience is a plus. End date anticipated July 31, 2025.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of bakery-related experience.
• Culinary school experience in baking is preferred.
• Must be able to work varied hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all phases of bakery production for Pavilion Dining and campus events.
• Maintain quality, sanitation and safety standards in bakery operations.
• Follow recipes, monitor yields and adjust as directed by supervisor.
• Clean equipment and work areas and participate in weekly production meetings.
