Job summary

Stanislaus County Office of Education seeks a Para Educator Severe to assist a certificated teacher in the K-2 Autism program. You will work with severely handicapped students, supporting instruction and monitoring progress in behavior and performance.

The position is 6 hours per day, 181 days per year, with a pay range of $22.40–$27.44 per hour. Internal candidates only; initial placement limits external candidates to Step 3 ($24.95). Training and benefits are described in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• SCOE Para Proficiency Test certificate is required.
• NCLB/ESSA or CBEST certificates accepted as substitute.
• AA Degree or higher acceptable with transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher in instruction for severely handicapped students.
• Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance.
• Help students develop self-help, social and community skills.
