Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of phlebotomy training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred, ASCP certification/eligible preferred.
• SunQuest and Epic software used.
• Dexterity sufficient to manipulate instrumentation.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures.
• Ability to communicate adequately with all laboratory clients.
• Basic clerical/data entry skills preferred.
• Excellent client relations skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lab Registration: registers and orders specimens, enters patient/test information into LIS, generates barcode labels.
• Specimen Collection: perform phlebotomy on inpatient and outpatient populations per policies.
• Specimen Processing/Send-Outs: process specimens, prepare for referral labs, document test codes and requirements.
• Microbiology: assist with inventory and maintain records; may handle plant specimens and related duties.
