Job summary

Ann Arbor YMCA is seeking a part-time Lead OST Counselor to plan, lead, and implement core and non-core programs for children in both small and large groups, ensuring safety and development.

You will work under the Director of Camping, coordinating with staff, communicating with parents, and maintaining records while upholding YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year experience working with children is required.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication are essential.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred; training opportunities are provided.
• Multilingual ability and a Chauffeur's license are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and implement core and non-core programs for children.
• Ensure safety and development of participants in group settings.
• Organize and lead a variety of activities weekly (crafts, sports, nature, etc.).
• Identify and address camper behavior issues.
• Communicate with parents about participants' experiences and concerns.
• Maintain accurate program records and attendance.
• Know and follow all emergency procedures and safety guidelines.
