Job summary

VSP Vision in Irvine, CA is seeking a part-time Optical Assistant to help customers find eyeglasses and contact lenses that best match their prescription and lifestyle while delivering high-quality care.

You will assist customers with frame selection, take measurements, and dispense eyewear, while providing enthusiastic service and accurate documentation in the practice software. This role emphasizes teamwork and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in a related field.
• Applicable State licensure or certification by a nationally recognized optician association as an optician, if required by state.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to assist patients and prioritize inquiries.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine the reason for the patient’s visit and deliver eyewear recommendations.
• Attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
• Assist customers in frame selection and coordinate frames with measurements and prescription.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit needs and lifestyle.
• Take measurements and dispense eyewear with accurate pricing and delivery quotes.
• Maintain displays and assist with insurance billing and processing orders.
