Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics is seeking a part-time Medical Scribe on-site to support clinical operations. You will manage electronic health records, anticipate physician needs, and maintain documentation accuracy while upholding patient confidentiality and professionalism.

The role requires HIPAA compliance, strong data-entry skills, and the ability to summarize medical information concisely. Flexible hours and a hospital-friendly environment support a reliable work schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• One year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical scribe or medical assistant or externship in a medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostics, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
• HIPAA confidentiality compliance.
• Ability to summarize complex medical information clearly and concisely.
• Proficient in data entry, email communication, and English composition.
• Typing speed of 40+ WPM with accuracy.
• Ability to follow instructions with sound problem solving and reference materials.
• Professional image and effective communication, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document medical visits and procedures performed by physicians, including patient history, exams, procedures, and education.
• Coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make calls, and perform clerical tasks as assigned.
• Identify and correct errors in medical documentation; ensure addenda approved by physicians.
• Record clinical data, lab results, and interpretations in medical records; alert physicians to incomplete charts.
• Comply with standards for medical records, legal and ethical requirements, and patient confidentiality.
• Support data collection for quality reporting systems and formatting for submission.
• Help develop and maintain systems for patient follow-up and compliance.
• Attend trainings on IT, HIPAA, billing and coding, and implement new knowledge.
• Proofread and edit physician documents for accuracy.
