Job summary

ProMedica in Toledo, OH seeks a Phlebotomist to collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.

You will perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation, including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and packaging, while using QA data to enhance services and address quality issues. Leadership duties include training new associates or students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Diploma from an accredited phlebotomy training institute or one year phlebotomy experience.
• Completion of an academic program including a 3+ week clinical phlebotomy rotation in hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.
• Prepare samples for analysis including pre-analytic tasks such as centrifugation, decanting and packaging.
• Follow asepsis/antisepsis principles and use QA data to address quality and service improvements.
• Assist in training new associates or students using leadership skills.
