Job summary

Third Street Music School is seeking a Part-Time Music Therapist to launch a brand-new clinical initiative in person, with one afternoon through early evening weekly. The role involves sessions for children and youth with diverse abilities, adults with varied support needs, and community engagements, contributing to education and advocacy while shaping the program’s growth.

Ideal candidates will have MT-BC, NY LCAT licensure pending, a Master’s in music therapy, and at least two years of diverse

Qualifications

• Master's degree in music therapy required.
• MT-BC certification required.
• New York State Licensure as a Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) or pending.
• Strong clinical musicianship in guitar, piano, percussion, and voice.
• Minimum two years of diverse clinical experience with populations including neurodivergent youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, strengths-oriented music therapy sessions for individuals and small groups.
• Design, adapt, and lead therapeutic experiences tailored to clients' clinical goals.
• Foster an inclusive environment that encourages personal growth and creative expression through music.
• Collaborate with the Music Therapy Consultant to develop and evaluate the new program.
• Work with educators, clinicians, and staff to support families and program goals.
• Assist with scheduling and communication with the Chief Programs Officer and Registrar.
• Support community events and internal trainings.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation and treatment plans.
• Prepare quarterly progress reports for clients.
• Participate in departmental meetings and professional development.
