Prosper United Methodist Church (PUMC) is seeking a dynamic Modern Worship Leader to launch our new Modern Worship service and lead in worship in a contemporary style. This individual will play a vital role in living out our vision through music leadership, planning, and meaningful relationships with musicians and the congregation.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of worship leadership, proficiency on piano or guitar, and AV/multitrack experience; a Bachelor’s degree in Worship Arts is

• Spiritual maturity and alignment with Wesleyan/UM theology.
• Bachelor’s degree in Worship Arts or related field.
• 3–5 years of worship leadership experience.
• Ability to recruit and develop musicians.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency on piano or guitar or other accompanying instrument.
• Strong vocal ability and engaging stage presence.
• Experience with AV tech and multitracks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in launching a new Modern Worship service and build the Modern Worship congregation.
• Serve on the launch team to strategize, plan, and execute the new service launch.
• Plan and lead musical portions for the 9:30 Modern Worship Service.
• Participate in seasonal worship planning (e.g., Christmas Eve, Holy Week).
• Shepherd worshipful moments for the congregation to encounter God.
• Recruit, rehearse, and direct the Modern Worship Band and weekly rehearsals.

Position Overview

Prosper United Methodist Church (PUMC) is seeking a dynamic and engaging Modern Worship Leader to help launch our new Modern Worship service and lead in worship in a modern/contemporary music style. This individual will play a vital role in living out our vision through music leadership, planning, and meaningful relationships. The ideal candidate is a skilled musician and worship leader with a passion for worship and the ability to inspire both spiritual and musical growth in our musicians and congregation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in building the Modern Worship congregation for a new service launch through community events, outreach, and relational ministry
• Serve on the launch team to strategize, plan, and execute the new service launch
• Plan and lead the musical portions of worship for the new 9:30 Modern Worship Service
• Participate in planning and facilitation of seasonal worship services including (but not limited to) Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.
• Curate and shepherd worshipful and musical moments for the congregation to encounter God
• Recruit new members for, rehearse, develop, and direct the new Modern Worship Band and direct a weekly mid‑week evening rehearsal
• Cultivate a culture of musical enjoyment and excellence within the Modern Worship Band
• Collaborate with Senior Pastor and other worship adjacent ministries for thoughtful worship facilitation
• Coordinate with Director of Communications to ensure worship slides are accurately prepared
• Lead Sunday evening Youth Worship once per month and help develop youth worship culture
• Partner with other ministry areas as requested throughout the year for participation in ministry crossover events

Ideal Qualifications

• Spiritual maturity in personal Christian faith with respect for Wesleyan/United Methodist theology and traditions
• Bachelor’s degree in Worship Arts, Music Education, Conducting, Music Performance, or related experience
• 3–5 years of experience leading worship
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and develop musicians
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency on piano, guitar, or another accompanying instrument
• Strong singer and engaging stage presence, high‑level musicianship
• Experience in a variety of musical styles
• Experience with AV technology and multitracks
