Job summary

Akumin is seeking a part-time Patient Coordinator for our Eaton Rapids Medical mobile unit. The role involves greeting patients, handling registrations, answering calls, and assisting with insurance verification and prior authorizations.

You will support patient flow, document visits, and ensure HIPAA-compliant record keeping while maintaining a clean mobile unit and coordinating with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• CPR certification before hire.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• G greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Registers patients in various systems and verifies information.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
• Assists in patient transfer to/from the exam room and on/off the exam table.
• Delivers preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area and proper stock in mobile unit.
• Schedules appointments and documents patient visits per HIPAA.
