Job summary

University System of New Hampshire invites applications for a part-time Laboratory Technician in the Ernakovich and SoilBioME Lab group. The role focuses on analyzing microbial communities and biogeochemical properties of permafrost soil samples under supervision.

The technician will support DNA extraction, PCR amplification, enzyme assays, and lab maintenance tasks, with training provided for lab-specific protocols. Work is conducted in a shared campus laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Part-time commitment of about 10 hours per week.
• Willingness to receive on-the-job training in DNA extraction and PCR protocols.
• Ability to work in a collaborative lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Microbial Soil Assays including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
• Lab Maintenance: cleaning, autoclaving labware, updating chemical inventory and waste disposal.
• Maintain complete, organized lab notebook.
• Communicate results and issues promptly with lab manager and staff.
• Update lab protocols as needed.
