Job summary

Humboldt County Memorial Hospital is seeking a Part-time Medical Laboratory Technician for our Hospital Laboratory. Typical schedule is 2-3 days/week, M-F, 8 hours/shift between 6AM - 7:30PM with weekend rotation and occasional nights based on business needs.

Candidate must have an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of an MLT program. Benefits include IPERS, health/dental/vision/Life, long-term disability and PTO.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of MLT program required.
• Certification by a national organization (ASCP, AMT, NCA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimens skillfully, efficiently, aseptically, and safely.
• Start-up, cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
• Properly labels and processes specimens for testing.
• Performs routine testing in all areas of the laboratory with quality control.
• Keeps detailed records of tests performed and maintains records.
• Prepares specimens to be shipped to reference laboratories for testing.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA.
