Job summary

Sutherland Healthcare Solutions is seeking a part-time Patient Advocate to determine Medicaid eligibility and assist with applications. The role involves on-site work at two Peoria, IL area hospitals and local travel as needed.

You will screen patients, educate them on eligibility options, and coordinate with healthcare staff and government agencies to gather required documents and complete verifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Medicaid eligibility and Health Insurance Exchange; Certified Application Counselor a plus.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as needed (no overnight travel).
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for Medicaid and other programs, determine eligibility, and assist with applications.
• Screen patients via bedside visits, phone interviews, or field visits to determine eligibility.
• Educate patients on Medicaid and other assistance applications.
• Gather documents and complete eligibility verification.
• Coordinate with physicians, case managers, social workers, and government agencies.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships.
• Document patient interactions and update account statuses.
