Job summary

Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA, seeks a part-time Professional Math Tutor for the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). The role provides targeted math tutoring to first-generation, low-income, and/or disabled students, offering personalized support to strengthen mathematical skills and academic success.

You will work with the TRIO SSS team, assessing needs, designing sessions, and delivering workshops.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field required. A Master's degree or equivalent experience in math education or tutoring is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in tutoring or teaching math at the college level.
Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities, is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms to enhance tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in various math subjects and related concepts.
Assess students' understanding and tailor sessions to learning needs and goals.
Help students develop effective study strategies, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.
Track and monitor progress, provide feedback and reports to TRIO SSS staff and academic advisors.
Develop and conduct math-focused workshops and group study sessions.
