Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applications for a Math Specialist in TRIO Student Support Services. This 9-month, 30-hour-per-week position involves one-on-one and small-group tutoring, supervising peer tutors, and coordinating with math and Tutoring & Learning Center staff to align support with curricular expectations.

Responsibilities include maintaining learner records, planning outreach, and delivering training to tutors, with emphasis on first-generation and low-income

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in math, math education, chemistry, biology, science, or related fields.
• Experience tutoring, teaching or instructing students in math or sciences.
• Experience empowering students and facilitating student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction and tutoring for TRIO SSS participants.
• Supervise and train peer tutors; oversee onboarding and performance goals.
• Coordinate with UW-La Crosse math dept., Tutoring & Learning Center to align support with curricular expectations.
• Maintain student records for evaluations of grant objectives and academic support.
• Plan SSS events and participate in campus activities to promote belonging and retention.
• Serve as liaison to Tutoring & Learning Center and academic departments.
