Job summary

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse seeks a Math Specialist to provide tutoring for TRIO SSS participants, supervise peer tutors, and coordinate services with math faculty and Learning Center leadership. The role emphasizes learner-centered instruction and strong collaboration.

The 9-month, 30-hour-per-week position supports first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities, with virtual interviews initially and campus visits for finalists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in math, math education, chemistry, biology, science, or related fields.
• Experience tutoring, teaching or instructing students in math or sciences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction and tutoring for TRIO SSS participants.
• Supervise peer tutors, onboarding and training of student employees.
• Coordinate with Tutoring & Learning Center and math department to align support with curricular expectations.
• Foster belonging and maintain mentoring relationships with learners.
• Assist in outreach and campus events to promote enrollment and retention.
