Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a part-time Program Instructor (Hourly) – Mathematics for Middle and/or High School in the NJ GEAR UP/College Bound program. The role supports year-round programming, including academic year and summer sessions, with classes scheduled Monday–Thursday (and some Fridays) and Saturday sessions.

The incumbent will provide grade-level math instruction, integrate reading/writing, and help students build study and test-taking skills.

Qualifications

Certification in Mathematics.
Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students preferred.
Education and experience prerequisites may be waived if an equivalent combination is shown.

Responsibilities

Provide grade-level mathematics instruction preparing students for high school and college.
Integrate reading and writing skills into mathematics instruction.
Help students develop communication, study, time management, and test-taking skills.
Assist in developing and implementing NJ GEAR UP/College Bound curriculum aligned with NJ Core Standards.
Prepare students for state assessments (PARCC, PSAT, SAT, ACT) through math skill development.
Attend required staff development and training sessions.
Submit typed lesson plans in a timely manner.
Create a positive learning environment that encourages engagement and achievement.
Maintain accurate academic records and student files.
Assist with administration, design, and evaluation of diagnostic and placement assessments.
