Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology is seeking a part-time Mathematics Instructor (hourly) to support middle and high school students through year-round NJ GEAR UP/College Bound programming. Classes run during the academic year and summer sessions, with morning and afternoon slots and periodic Saturday events.

The role focuses on delivering math instruction, integrating reading/writing, and preparing students for standardized assessments while developing their study and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Certification in the core subject area of Mathematics.
• Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students is preferred.
• Education/experience equivalency may be waived at the university's discretion for suitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide grade-level mathematics instruction for middle/high school.
• Integrate reading and writing skills into mathematics instruction.
• Assist students in developing study, time management, and test-taking skills.
• Help students build confidence in mathematics and strengthen problem-solving abilities.
• Prepare students for state assessments (PARCC, PSAT, SAT, ACT) through math skill development.
• Attend required staff development and training sessions.
• Submit typed lesson plans in a timely manner.
• Align curriculum with New Jersey Common Core Standards.
