New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, NJ, is seeking a part-time Program Instructor (Hourly) for Mathematics for Middle and/or High School under the NJ GEAR UP/College Bound program. The role supports year-round instructional activities, including academic year sessions and summer sessions, with classes typically held Monday–Thursday and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Certification in mathematics required.
• Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be waived at the university's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide grade-level mathematics instruction that prepares students for success in high school and college.
• Integrate reading and writing skills into mathematics instruction.
• Assist students in developing communication, study, time management, and test-taking skills.
• Help students build confidence in mathematics while strengthening problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Prepare students for state-mandated assessments (PARCC, PSAT, SAT, ACT) through development of mathematical skills.
• Attend all required staff development and training sessions.
• Submit typed lesson plans in a timely manner.
• Assist in developing and implementing the NJ GEAR UP/College Bound curriculum aligned with the New Jersey Common Core Standards.
