Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a part-time role. You will perform mammography exams per physician orders, ensure patient comfort, and maintain image quality and accurate labeling in PACS/RIS.

Requires ARRT-R, ARRT-M, and BLS, plus at least 1 year of radiologic technologist experience with mammography. Join a supportive team with a focus on patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year as Radiologic Technologist and 1 year mammography experience in a hospital.
• Certifications: ARRT-R (Radiography); ARRT-M (Mammography); BLS (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients and assisting with transfers.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per infection control guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests (ACR/MQSA) including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Compression tests, and DICOM Printer Test.
• Ensure all images are labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Provide pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions, and support training of new team members.
• Maintain timely documentation and stay current with required education.
• Communicate professionally and work well in a fast-paced team with strong anatomy and radiation safety knowledge.
