Job summary

Wellstar Cobb Breast and X-Ray Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist for a part-time role. You will perform high-quality imaging, ensure patient comfort, and support the clinical team with accurate documentation.

The position requires ARRT-R and ARRT-M certifications, plus BLS, with at least 1 year of radiologic and mammography experience in a hospital setting. The team emphasizes patient-centered care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; completed Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) and ARRt-M (Mammography) certifications; BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders (RBAC for verbal orders), and assist in emergencies.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimize dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, and others.
• Ensure images are labeled and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding as appropriate.
• Provide pre- and post-exam instructions, answer questions, and train new team members.
• Maintain timely documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
• Communicate professionally and work well in a fast-paced team with strong clinical skills.
