Job summary

William Ramsay Elementary School in Alexandria, VA, is seeking a part-time Literacy Instructional Coach (.5) to lead literacy professional learning and coach teachers in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and metacognitive skill development.

This 10-month position reports to the school principal and collaborates with staff to implement literacy frameworks and targeted interventions that improve student achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Grade Level Adjacent Education; Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Virginia Department of Education teaching license with Grade Level Adjacent endorsement.
• Reading Specialist endorsement preferred but not required.
• 3–5 years of successful teaching experience.
• Knowledge of instructional coaching, literacy assessments, and state assessments.
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction and data-driven interventions.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and facilitates professional learning to support inclusion of all students.
• Coordinates services and communicates program goals with staff.
• Develops and implements ACPS literacy frameworks and reading guidelines.
• Strengthens teachers' instructional knowledge and repertoire of strategies.
• Supports literacy integration through co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, and observations.
• Collaborates with teachers and administrators to provide differentiated support and monitor growth.
• Analyzes literacy data to inform school-wide improvement and interventions.
