Job summary

Library Systems & Services, LLC is seeking an entry-level Library Associate 2 to support library operations, primarily at the circulation desk. You will provide customer service to patrons, issue cards, check out/in materials, and assist with locate-and-help tasks.

This role requires basic library knowledge, strong communication, and flexibility to work a 20-hour week including some evenings or weekends. Training provided.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; two years library experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills and good written/verbal communication.
• Basic knowledge of library systems and databases.
• Ability to work a schedule including days, evenings and weekends.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and registers patrons, issues library cards, checks out materials.
• Assists patrons in locating materials and uses the reference desk or computers.
• Explains procedures, logs onto the Internet, makes copies, and handles payments.
• Checks in and processes library materials as needed; handles fines and fees.
• Provides program and event information; mails materials for homebound patrons.
• Shelves materials and escalates patron conduct or safety issues as needed.
• Follows privacy laws and custodianship policies; performs other duties as assigned.
