Job summary

City of Charlottesville is seeking a Courier for the Central Library to perform dependable daily deliveries, load and unload items, and coordinate routine vehicle maintenance. This full-time role requires a valid Virginia driver’s license and a willingness to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Some delivery experience preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Loads/unloads materials for courier deliveries.
• Communicates with staff to collect items daily and route them appropriately.
• Operates delivery vehicle and follows safe driving practices.
• Coordinates routine vehicle maintenance and reports issues to supervisor.
• Maintains secure and organized loading areas and protects materials during transport.
• Maintains flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Distributes deliveries to Central Library staff and departments.
• Performs additional duties as needed to support operations.
